THE LANGUAGE OF OA RECOVERY
A program of action.
A program of attraction rather than promotion.
A threefold disease.
Abstinence is a choice.
Abstinence is the most important thing in my life, without exception.
Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.
Act as if.
Action is the magic word.
Anger may identify a problem, but it will never solve one.
Attitude + Gratitude = Recovery.
Awareness, acceptance, action.
"Big Books” that are falling apart usually belong to people who aren’t.
Bring the body and the mind will follow.
Came to believe.
Carry the message.
Clean up your side of the street.
Denial is not a river in Egypt.
Do the next, right thing.
Don’t compare your inside with someone else’s outside.
Don’t leave before the miracle happens.
Don’t pick up no matter what! No matter what don’t pick up!
Don’t take other people’s inventory.
Don’t take that first compulsive bite.
Don’t wait until you feel better to do it. Do it and you’ll feel better.
Easy does it -- but Do it!
Easy does it.
Expect a miracle.
Expectations are premeditated resentments.
Expectations are resentments under construction.
Experience, Strength and Hope.
Face your stuff, don’t stuff your face.
Faith without works is dead.
Fake it till you make it.
Feelings are not facts.
Fellowship of the spirit.
First things first.
Food is not an option to solve a problem.
Food thoughts are just thoughts. You don't have to act.
God doesn’t make junk.
God doesn't close one door without opening a better one.
God has three answers-YES—NO—and WAIT.
Gratitude is the hinge upon which an abstinent life swings.
Half measures availed us nothing.
Happy, Joyous and Free.
Hatred destroys the hater.
Have an attitude of gratitude.
Help is only a phone call away.
Honest, open-minded, willing
Humbly ask for help.
I can't. God can. I think I'll let God.
I have a disease that tells me I don’t have a disease.
I resigned from the debating society.
I traded a lot of pain, fear, and despair for my seat in O. A.
I was always comparing my insides to someone else's outsides.
I won't starve to death between meals.
If I have a problem and eat over it, then I have two problems.
If you don’t buy it, you can’t eat it.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
If you feel God is far away; guess who moved!
If you pray, why worry? If you worry, why pray?
If you're not doing enough for OA, you're not doing enough for yourself.
If you're too busy to go to OA meetings, you're busier than God wants you to be.
Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.
It takes what it takes until it takes.
It works if you work it.
It’s easier to stay abstinent than to get abstinent.
It’s never too late.
It’s not odd; it’s God.
It's about the food until it's not about the food.
It's not what you're eating; it's what's eating you.
Just for today
Keep coming back!
Keep it simple.
Let go and let God.
Life, on life's terms.
Listen and learn.
Live and let live.
Living in the solution.
Love and Tolerance is our code.
Meeting makers make it.
Meetings are our medicine.
Miracles happen.
My Higher Power is whatever I turn to in a crisis.
My serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations.
No pain, no gain.
Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Nothing tastes as good as abstinence feels!
One day at a time.
One is too many: one thousand is not enough.
Peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank.
Principles before personalities.
Procrastination is the thief of time.
Progress not perfection
Recovery is a choice.
Recovery is a journey not a destination.
Relax! God is in charge.
Repetition is the only form of permanence.
Serenity to accept; Courage to change; Wisdom to know.
Service is slimming.
Sponsors carry the message -- not the person.
Sponsorship-together we recover.
Stinking thinking leads to eating.
Seven days without a meeting makes one weak.
Step into the sunlight of the spirit.
Sweep my side of the street.
Take what you like and leave the rest.
The best things in life aren't things.
The disease is physical. The cause is emotional. The cure is spiritual.
The disease is progressive; so is recovery.
The elevator is broken. Use the steps.
The only person I can change or regulate is me.
The person with the longest abstinence is the person who got up the earliest today.
The way to ask for help is to say, "I need help."
The worst day abstinent is better than the best day compulsively overeating.
There is a solution.
There is no easier, softer way.
There is no situation so bad that a compulsive bite can't make it worse.
Think first!
Think! Pray! Act!
Think, think, and think!
This too, shall pass.
Together we can.
Together we recover.
Trace it, face it, and erase it.
Unless we work the program, the program will not work.
Utilize, don’t analyze.
We are only one bite away from a binge.
We can do what I can’t.
We find love and understanding beyond our wildest dreams
We need the tools to work the steps.
We never have to hurt ourselves with food again.
Welcome to O.A., Welcome home.
We'd be surprised what people think of us if we knew how seldom they do!!
Welcome back! Welcome home!
We'll love you until you learn to love yourself.
What other people think of me is none of my business.
Whatever I put before my abstinence, I will loose along with my abstinence.
Whatever you resist persists.
When I don’t think I need a meeting, I need a meeting.
When in doubt -- don't.
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
Willing to go to any length.
Would you rather be right or serene?
You are as sick as your secrets.
You can’t keep it unless you give it away.
You can’t rock the boat; if you are too busy rowing.
You can't do it alone, but only you can do it.
You have to be sick and tired of being sick and tired.
You may not get what you want but you will get what you need.
